First Impressions Glowup
When we first checked out this Beavercreek home in a well established and beautifully maintained neighborhood, we were super excited for the potential that we knew existed within it. This home had great bones and was ready for a breathe of new life. The first phase of this first floor remodel involved giving the foyer, study, and dining room a new identity.
These "before" pics taken from the front foyer highlight the home's need for a brighter, warmer greeting for guests.
We started with a consistent flooring to give the space a unified flow and a warmer color palette. Then we added some visual interest by casing the study and dining room openings, helping to more clearly define those spaces. Additional moulding in the study and wainscoting in the dining room helped to elevate the spaces through texture and dimension. We added in furnishings, window treatments, and accessories that supported the overall "casual sophistication" vibe we were going for.
Kitchen & Family Room Refresh
Phase two of this Beavercreek home first floor renovation included the family room and the kitchen. These two spaces were original to the home and were ready to have a modern upgrade to match the vibe from the first phase of our renovation.
The homeowners liked the layout of the kitchen but wanted to make better use of the space. We started by adding a gutting the entire kitchen, removing the soffits, as well, to make room for taller wall cabinets. We added in new lighting to brighten up the space, a slate porcelain floor tile, lighter cabinetry, & quartz countertops (Check out the difference between quartz and granite here).
We then focused on the family room. The existing fireplace felt outdated and bulky, and left dead space in each of the back corners because of its placement on the wall. We removed the brick facade, raised the firebox to accomodate a taller hearth with room for sitting, and flanked the surround with custom bookcases. We added picture frame moulding as a nod to the trimwork in the study and added additional lighting to brighten up the room.
We used the homeowners' existing couches but added in some new accessories to bring in pops of color from our palette. The project was complete just in time for the holidays, so we got the pleasure of snapping our "After" photos while the home was decorated for the season, and we were absolutely LOVING how cozy the new vibe is!
